A late Victor Mbaoma penalty gave Remo Stars victory over plucky Wikki Tourists in one of the rescheduled games of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) played across the country yesterday.

Ade Runsewe gave Remo Stars the lead in the 21st minute, but junior international, Adeshina Gata brought the sides level in the 36th minute of the game. When Wikki Tourists were about celebrating a point earned on the road, Remo Stars got an opportunity to take the whole jewel when they got a penalty a minute to full time.

Victor Mbaoma, who returned to the side after a loan spell at Akwa United, stepped up to put the points in the kitty for the home side.

In other games, Kada City continued their impressive debut in the elite cadre with a 2-1 defeat of Yobe Desert Stars, but Gombe United needed another late penalty to hold Akwa United to a 2-2 draw at home.

Former Enyimba captain, Mfon Udoh scored what Akwa Ibom side thought was the match winner midway into the second half before Gombe United got lucky with a penalty to level scores.

Bendel Insurance recorded yet another draw at home when they hosted Enyimba at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, just as Lobi Stars had to come from behind to hold Katsina United to a 1-1 draw.
