Musician Seun Kuti has been detained at Panti Police Station following an assault on a uniformed police office which has been widely condemned.
It was learnt that Kuti surrendered to the Lagos State Police Command on Monday after the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba had ordered his arrest earlier on Sunday.
“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.”

Kuti was accompanied by his lawyer and had a meeting with the Lagos State Police Commissioner, before being placed under arrest afterwards.
He was seen in handcuffs being led into the Panti Division in Yaba in a video now circulating online.
The Police Service Commission has also demanded the musician’s arrest and prosecution for slapping a policeman during a traffic incident on the Third Mainland Bridge at over the weekend.
