It is that time of the year once again when the best golfers from the West Africa sub-region converge on the Smokin Hills Golf Resort Ilara Mokin to battle for fortune and bragging rights.
The serene Ilara Mokin in Ondo State is the home of one of the most beautiful golf courses in West Africa and every year for the past 14 years it welcomes the best players from the sub-region to celebrate the virtues of late (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo (EWOMGT) with a golf tournament.
This year, the two-day tournament sponsored by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL) tees off today with the professionals taking the centre stage from 7:00 a.m., while the amateur men and ladies will try to dominate the enduring topography of the Smokin Hills tomorrow also from 7:00 a.m.
According to TNL, at stake are N5 million for the winner of hole-in-one prize for hole 13 and other mouth-watering prizes lined up to make this year’s edition worth every golfers while.

Public Relations and Advert Manager, TNL, Mrs. Bukunola Ogunnusi explained, “the management of TNL’s objective is to preserve the memory of Late Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo with all she lived for. It is worth noting that Toyota (Nigeria) Limited in its characteristic manner will be sponsoring hole 13 with a prize of N5 million.
“One of the prizes to be won by golfers at the gala night climaxing the tournament is the Amiable Woman Of The Tournament prize. This is a platform created by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited to further keep the vision of the deceased for the game of golf alive. It also aimed at continually nurturing the legacy and virtue of industry amongst women golfers. Indeed, the prize is symbolic of the amiable nature of the departed woman of substance.”
Also to add glamour to the tournament, participants and guests would be treated to a Work & Play Auto Rally, which is an initiative of DINKKIIA Limited (in collaboration with EWOMGT) aimed at infusing play into work, using the auto rally as a platform to provide a veritable avenue for workers to unwind while testing the fire power of auto wonders on wheels.
