SOOB/NICCOM tackles Rickey Tarfa as teams gun for BOA semifinals ticket

They were 20, but now only eight are left to continue the battle for the right to be known as the best football playing law firm in Nigeria.

Tomorrow at the AstroTurf 2000, Ikoyi, the four quarterfinalists, SOOB/NICCOM, Rickey Tarfa, Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL), Advocaat, Banwo & Ighodalo (B&I), ALP/SPA, Falana & Falana and BA Law/Probitas will return to the pitch to fight for semifinals tickets of the 10th Bankole Olumide Aluko (BOA) Lawyers League of which Falana is the defending champion.

Last week at the smooth pitch of the AstroTurf2000, the eight teams dispatched their adversaries to earn the right for tomorrow’s contests.

In the first game of the day, Banwo & Ighodalo defeated Babalakin 2-0 with Koye Kekere-Ekun the match winner with two goals, while ALP/SPA saw off Pinheiro’s challenge with a 1-0 victory courtesy of Tomi Belgore’s lone strike.

Two goals by Lateef Bamidele and Chigozie Aforgwu gave Advocaat a 2-0 victory over Templars, while the tie between Lagos Ministry of Justice and Olisa Agbakoba Legal was settled through a penalty shoot out as both teams could not score after the two legs of the tie. Olisa Agbakoba won 3-2.

Falana & Falana led the high scoring sides with its 5-0 defeated of Jackson Etti/Edu matched b y SOOB/NICCOM and BA Law, which defeated Wiseview/Grey Chapel and Punuka by the same margin respectively.

Rickey Tarfa completed the quarterfinal line up with its 3-1 defeat of ACA/UUBO.

In tomorrow’s quarterfinal matches, SOOB/NICCOM will meet Rickey Tarfa, while Advocaat will trade tackles with Banwo & Ighodalo.
Olisa Agbakoba Legal is paired against ALPS/SPA, while Falana and BA Law/Probitas will tango in the last game of the day.

According to the organisers, “the match time for each game is 20 minutes, including half time and change over time. The matches would start at 3.00 p.m. every match day, but teams must arrive 30 minutes before their game.”
