Okoye stated this in Awka on Wednesday while unveiling an Application that had the capacity to detect cybercrime.

He said most Nigerian youths were productive and ingenious and therefore should not be labeled criminals by security agencies.

He said as a result of this, he had invented an application that would assist to curb internet fraud, especially in online markets.

Regretting that online products were not certified by regulatory agencies, Nonso said this had caused more health challenges like kidney failure, respiratory issues and others to the people.

He said, “We have geniuses, people who can engrave their names in the sands of time in the ICT world. The issue is that we are in an environment where crime is rather advertised.

“We have helped portray ourselves as criminals out there to other countries when there are countries where worse happen. I can actually buttress this by telling that you only record cyber cases like one hijacking an individual’s or multiple individuals’ account and clear out the funds in it.

“We rarely hear cases of hijacking a bank and diverting all the funds there which is the order of the day in most countries that see us as a country full of fraudsters.

“So I will say that our youths are not all bad as we are portrayed, rather we can do better and all we need is the passion and determination and not letting the state of the country drive us into the wrong path.

“Our destiny lies in our hands and we alone can make the choices that define us, but I am here to advise and encourage the youths to know that there are numerous positive and ethical choices and that all we need is patience because patience is power, to build a strong foundation although it might take time, but the outcome is a hundred percent desirable.
