The casket bearing the remains of Kehinde Lijadu was brought into the Harmony Funeral Home, 2222 Clarendon Road, Brooklyn, New York around 9.00 a.m. where the funeral service was held.
During the funeral, Taiwo Lijadu paid her tributes by rendering some of the songs they sang together which drew tears and claps from mourners inside the funeral home.
In Yoruba, she sang the popular folk song: “Lojo n ba sun gbalaja o, lojo n ba sun gbalaja, omo atata gbe mi o, lojo n ba sun gbalaja. (I pray to be carried aloft by good children the day I breath my last).
She then went to the casket to give her sister the last embrace which further drew tears from the people gathered there.
Betraying some emotions, she then recounted the great days they had together, chanting her panegyrics (oriki)
