The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor has entreated sedentary elders of Fulani extraction in the Akyem Agogo Municipal Assembly to talk to their animals to comport themselves.
‘The Fulanis am sure sort of have their elders and there are some sedentary Fulani men, I mean those who do not migrate, who are fixed to a point, they have been in Agogo for very long, let them talk to the animals to comport themselves,’ he indicated.
The Acting IGP described the issues surrounding the Fulani herdsmen as a complex menace, saying its difficult arresting them because they are not stationed at one place.
‘The Fulani issue is a little complex, they move from places to places, they are not in one particular place that you can go and attack them,’ he stated.
This he assured that the police will use intelligence gathered and strategies adopted to clamp them down.
‘We will use our intelligence and strategies to command them, because the allegations are too many, that has compelled us to send more men there together with the military,’ he said.
Speaking on Accra-based Utimate FM, he encouraged Agogo residents to go about their duties and not to panic, saying they have evaluated their strategies by going on the drawing board to bring calm.
‘We don’t just go walking; we evaluate our strategies, go on our drawing board and execute our plans. I would say we have done our best, my men are aligned with our strategies, we are bringing in more men to bring in calm,’ he explained.
The Acting IGP called on all stakeholders to put their hands on deck to tackle the protracted clashes in the area, saying a complex approach is needed to solve the issue.
