Determined to ensure that the 2018 edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is as successful as the last two editions, the newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kwenku Tandoh, has joined the Organising Committee.

According to a statement signed by Access Bank Lagos City Marathon Director of Communications and Media, Olukayode Thomas, “Dr. Tandoh will bring his over four decades’ experience in sports as a practitioner, sports administrator and manager to the organization of the 2018 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.”

The statement further explained, “We are delighted to have Dr. Tandoh on the Organising Committee. He is a sports administrator per excellence. Apart from being born into a sports family, Dr. Tandoh has carved a niche for himself in sports administration and management. As the chief executive officer of the Eko 2012 National Sports Festival, Tandoh organized a sports festival that was world class. He was also one of the brains behind the success of the first National Youth Games, the African Beach Soccer Nations Cup, as well as being a part of the highly successful annual table tennis championship.”

Apart from working with other members of the Organising Committee to ensure a successful race, Tandoh is also on the committee to ensure that the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon fulfills Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s vision of using the marathon to contribute to the state economy, promote tourism, empower the youths, ensure Lagosians embrace the culture of exercise, walking and running because of its immense health benefits, as well as to create employment and raise global icons from Lagos.

The 2018 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is slated for February 10, 2018. The full marathon, now an IAAF Bronze Labeled race, will start at 6.30 a.m., at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos and finish at Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.
The second race, 10km Family Race will start 8.30 at Lekki Roundabout after the Ikoyi-Lekki Bridge and finish at the Eko Atlantic City.

Thomas appeals to all Lagosians to follow communications on road closures and alternative roads on race day as roads on the marathon routes will be closed for about seven hours.
