Organisers of the fifth edition of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) Free Soccer Clinic, which ended at the Araromi Sports Development Center, Gbagada, Lagos at the weekend, have explained that they embarked on the programme to offer budding footballers the opportunity to actualize their dreams.

The clinic ended with a tournament match featuring the U-13, U-15 and U-17 (the senior team) selected players against TREM Academy.Speaking with The Guardian a the end of the event, the Head Coach, TREM Football Academy and Technical Director of Association of Proprietors of Football Academies of Nigeria, Solomon Adesina Peters, described the programme as an avenue to encourage the players to work hard for success. He revealed that TREM Football Academy (TFA) was open to coaches from different academies to bring their players to learn.

“We discovered that some of the techniques put to them are strange to the players, which shows that some of the coaches are not doing enough,” Solomon said.Thanking the organisers for the exposure they got from the academy, one of the TREM FC players, Donald Kekwo pleaded with sponsors to help the quality players to secure clubs abroad, saying the players at the camp have the qualities to succeed in the game. Also speaking at the occasion, Rev. Dennis Kekwo charged the players to make the best use of the skills they learnt from the clinic. “This is a platform to take the youths off the streets and also to impact into them the basics of football,” he added.
