Two fake policemen,Remi Odili,42,and Stanley Obanor,35 on Monday were arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrate court over alleged impersonation.
A hunter, Emmanuel Lamidi,38, was also remanded in Prison Custody by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate court over allegedly shooting his friend in the farm.
The two fake polucemen who were arraigned with two-count- charge of Impersonation and Fraud were accused of unlawfully dressed and presented themselves as police officers in Jan.2013 at Ado-Ekiti.
The police prosecution, Sgt.Oriyomi Akinwale who told the court that the accused committed the offence on the said month added that the accused also fraudulently obtained the sum of N14M as salary in the police force,when they were not police officers.
Oriyomi further claimed that the accused were dismissed officers from the police force some years ago, adding that the offence contravene Section 419 of the Criminal Code,Cap C 16,Laws of Ekiti State. 2012.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence, while their counsel, Mr Clement Nnacheta prayed the court to grant bail to his clients with a promise that they would not jump bail.
Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade consequently granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Similarly, the police prosecutor, Sgt.Ikebuilo Monica told the on Thursday that the accused, Lamidi, who was accused of shooting his friend in the farm while hunting committed the offence at about 23:00hrs on May 8 at Awelewa farm, Ilawe-Ekiti.
She alleged that the accused, on the said day,time and place, unlawfully killed his friend ,Benjamin Patrick by shooting him with a Dane gun at the chest when they went hunting together in the forest, pointing out that he committed an offence Contravene Section 325 of the criminal Code,Cap C 16,Laws of Ekiti State,2012.
She claimed that she had forwarded his case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for legal advice.
The plea of the accused was not taken but the accused said that he mistakenly killed him,saying that he killed an animal and not his friend.
His counsel, Mr Chris Omokhafe however prayed the court for a short date of adjournment as they await the advice from DPP’s office, while Magistrate Doyin Akosile consequently ordered that the accused be remanded in
Prison custody pending DPP legal advice, and the case wss adjourned to June 16, for further hearing.
