The Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Revd, Dr. Isaac Ayobami Olawuyi, and former Chairman, Lagos Council of Knights, Dame Maryam Akintola have warned politicians against rigging and vote buying that could lead to violence that might disrupt the 2019 elections.

They said this at the enthronement and presentation thanksgiving service for the new Archbishop, Olawuyi; the Lay President, Archdiocese of Lagos, Sir Peter Olorunfemii; and Sir Gbolahan Olayyomi, as the new Lay President, Diocese of Lagos held at the Wesley Cathedral Olowogbowo, Lagos.

In his maiden sermon, Olawuyi pleaded with Christians to wholeheartedly surrender themselves to God, through which divine turnaround will manifest and the nation would be the best for it.

He, however, pleaded with Nigerians to renounce and abstain from sins, to build a virile society, where no man is oppressed.

Olawuyi implored Nigerians to always regard themselves as vehicles of honour unto the Lord, thereby giving their ultimate best to happily affect others’ fortunes.

Berating the country’s current socio-economic condition and level of insecurity, especially the Boko Haram security threat, the clergy pleaded with politicians to promote peaceful co-existence among Nigerians for a vibrant economy.
