Unilorin Warriors on Thursday took a step closer to the final of the Higher Institution Football League after beating UDU Sultans 2-0 away from home.

Two second half goals were enough to give the Warriors a good first leg win as they look forward to finishing the battle when they play at home in two weeks’ time.

In some of the other quarterfinal games played on Wednesday, UNIBEN Royals defeated OAU Giants 2-0, while the other two matches ended in a draw.

Despite the win, UNIBEN Royals have vowed to take the battle to Ife for the second leg as they are targeting the trophy.
UNICAL Malabites and DELSU Titans played out a 1-1 draw, while there was no goal between UNIJOS Highlanders and UAM Tillers.

According to the schedule, the second leg of the quarterfinal games will come up on September 19 while the final four games will be played in Lagos.

Meanwhile, the schools have applauded the support of the main sponsor, Stanbic IBTC, and the organiser of the league, HiFL Nigeria, for creating a Nigerian Universities’ league that has been putting smiles daily on the faces and changing the lives of youths across the country.
