A prophet is said not to be honored at home, this seems not to be the case of the Tourism Editor of Nigerian Tribune, Wale Ojo-Lanre as he was honoured with the Tourism Journalist of the Year award for his contributions towards the growth of tourism in Nigeria on 27th September, 2015 at Univeristy of Ibadan, Oyo State.
He was awarded alongside many other prominent Nigerians at the University of Ibadan. The governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi bagged Tourism Personality of the Year, Adeboye was awarded the Religion and Ecotourism Personality of the Year, while Kenya Airways bagged the Best African Tourism Airline of the Year.

In 2012, he bags the Cultural Ambassador of the year Award for his contribution towards the promotion of culture and tourism. Also, at the inauguration of African Heritage Cultural Centre and Fund Raising ceremony in Netherlands in 2013, he was awarded the Best Tourism Promoter for his contribution to tourism industry.
An astute tourism writer and promoter, he has bagged over 30 awards locally and internationally. He has also consistently been at the vanguard of the campaign for the development of the great potentials of tourism in Nigeria for almost two decades.
