Mrs Olukemi Oluyede, wife of frontline gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of  All progressives Congress (APC)  in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has congratulated Ekiti State women on the occasion of the 2017 women’s Day celebration.

She said in a statement signed by Dr. Oluyedes’ s media aide, Gbenga Adebamigbe that she deliberately flew down from Australia to celebrate with the woman because of the high regards she has for Ekiti women.

According to her, women from Ekiti state are known to be virtuous, diligent, hard working, and responsible, but regretted that they have not attained the expected elective and appointed positions, describing this as the highest point of deprivation of rights.

Mrs Oluyede however, urged Ekiti women to be more ambitious and set a high target that would make them excel in business and politics, the two main pivotal instruments to curtail poverty.

Mrs Oluyede promised to a bring a paradigm shift in the politics of the state if her husband becomes governor by creating opportunities for women to realise their potentials while also play their cultural roles as good wives and mothers who value family lives.

She urged them to stop staying under the shadow of their male counterparts owing to cultural consideration, saying time has come for them to raise the bar of participation in governance by being active in politics and other ventures that could make them relevant in the scheme of things.

“The era of the exploitation of women is over and I want us to always aim higher for the good of the society. Success does not come cheaply, but I want us to continue to stay bold for change.

“Ekiti Women should be more involved in political activities and even aspire to leadership positions. I am particularly happy that Ekiti women are no longer lagging behind in education,  and so we should be seen to be playing active roles in politics and taking up other
leadership roles that would make us  compete favourably with our men folk .”Mrs. Oluyede added.
