As you can see, the pupils were distributed into Blue, Green, Red and Yellow houses. It is a good day for us to showcase our talents in different aspects of sporting competitions.”

On the importance of getting the students involved in sporting activities, Mrs. Ogundinmu noted, “you cannot really start to play your role as a teacher until you are sure that a child is physically fit. Even the teaching process starts from being physically fit; it is when you have a physically sound child that you can go on to the next level.

“And not just that, your assessment of this child will help the teacher to promote on other skills like social, emotional and cognitive skills. Emotional development of the child can be traced to the child’s physical wellbeing.”

The proprietress noted that the school has introduced the early year foundation programme to cater for child-training physically, even from birth.

“As you can see, almost every child in our school participates in the activities, even from six months,” she added.

Leslie Amadi, Coach of Golden Bunch Schools, noted that the event was to ensure the physical fitness and mental alertness of a child. “Physical exercise is good for every child to keep their brain and body healthy and make them to study very hard. It is what is done all over the world and for them to know more about sports, so that they can participate and practice what they watch on TV and during the Olympics”.
