For allegedly stealing 290 litres of diesel, two men Johnbull Okoye, and Ibrahim Ismaila, 22 were
on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused Okoye, 34, and Ismaila, 22 who reside in Ikeja, Lagos, are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Police Sgt. Godwin Awase, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 2.
He said the accused conspired to steal 290 litres of diesel, property of Golden Change Lotto.
“The accused stole 290 litres of diesel belonging to Golden Change Lotto valued at N58, 000.

“The accused came into the generator room at night to steal the diesel and filled their jerry cans with the stolen
diesel which they carted away in a tricycle.
“But luck ran against them as they were apprehended d by the company’s security guards,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes three years jail term for stealing, while Section
411 provides two years for conspiracy.
The accused pleaded innocence of the offences and were granted bail in the sum of N30, 000 each with two sureties each
in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs F.F. George, who gave the ruling, said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence
of two years tax payment.
The case was adjourned until April 30 for mention.
