40-year-old man lands in court for allegedly stealing ‘Chin-Chin’

A 40-year-old man, Simeon Okoria, has appeared before a Magistrates’ Court sitting at Oke-Eda, Akure, the Ondo State capital over the theft of Chin-Chin worth N400,550.

It was gathered that Okoria allegedly committed the offence on September 11, 2019 around 9 am, at Oja Oba market along Akure magisterial district.

The prosecutor, ASP Tanimowo Ibrahim, told the court that the accused person stole 160 cartoons of the chin-chin which belong to one Ebenezer Peter.

The Prosecutor added that the offence contravened sections 383 and 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2007.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

Counsel to the accused, Maria Bolorunduro, prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in most liberal term, she assured the court a faithful and reliable surety adding that the defendant will not abuse the privilege if granted bail.

The Magistrate, Mr Mayomi Olunipekun, granted the accused bail in sum of N100,000 with one surety adding that, “The surety must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court with an evidence of tax payment for this year.

The case was subsequently adjourned till November 8, 2019 for hearing.
