Newly appointed Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has promised to hit the road running in efforts to revive the hurting sector.
Balala, who spoke on his first assignment since re-appointment said that there was a great need to review the way things were being done in tourism sector to revive it.
“We cannot be doing the same things over and over and expect results. We need to review what we are doing and see what is working and do away with what is not working,” said Balala.

He expressed optimism that he would be able to get the sector back to its days of glory when he served under the same capacity during the grand coalition government.
“I am humbled to be appointed back to my earlier docket. There is a lot of excitement and expectations. I will work with my team to achieve these expectations.”
He outlined his road map among them meeting with all his staff at the ministry, tourism Parastatal chiefs, and the private sector stakeholders.
Balala said he will make a major announcement in the next two weeks on changes regarding the way the tourism industry would be run.
Balala was speaking in Lamu on Saturday where he attended the ongoing 15th annual Lamu cultural festival.
