Overheating is a disastrous effect that can cause catastrophe if not properly guide against. The earliest automobile cooling system uses water to expel excessive heating produce during the combustion process, the latent heat of fusion and vaporization of water can easily be exceeded at a very high engine operation.
The coolant use in the cooling system of this modern automobile system is the proportionate mixture of anti-freeze and water to enhance it’s durability in it’s course of operation.
DAILY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE .
• Always check the coolant level in the radiator and water in the windscreen washer reservoir in case of accidental clouded windscreen.
• Turn the ignition switch to ON I to observe the operation of the cooling fan.
• Check all cooling line to guide against it’s collapsibility.
• Run the vehicle on idle for 10mins, then open the pressure cap to observe the proper flow of coolant through the system.
CAUTION!!!
NEVER CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY OPEN THE PRESSURE CAP WHEN THE ENGINE SYSTEM HAS BEEN RUN FOR QUITE LONG HOURS.
WHENEVER YOU OBSERVE THE TEMPERATURE SCALE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL READ ABOVE THE NOMINAL GREEN INDICATOR TOWARDS THE RED INDICATOR. SAFELY FIND YOUR WAY OUT OF THE TRAFFIC AND PARK TO CHECK FOR THE DEFECTS.
NB:
PERIODICALLY, FLUSH THE RADIATOR WITH COMPRESSED WATER.
