Celine Dion’s brother Daniel Dion dies of cancer at 59, two days after her husband succumbs to the same disease.
The heartbreaking news comes two days after her husband of 20 years René Angélil died following his own fight with throat cancer.
Daniel was one of Celine’s 13 siblings.
The French-Canadian singer’s sister Claudette told a newspaper Le Journal de Montréal that family members, including their mother, were at his bedside before he died 5 a.m. Saturday. Daniel had cancer of the throat, brain and tongue.

“He was ready and he no longer suffers,” Claudette told the newspaper. “It was serene.”
Celine, 47, has not publicly commented about her brother.
She recently posted a tribute to her late husband, and father of their three children, on Facebook and revealed that his funeral will be held Friday at Montreal’s Notre Dame Basilica – the same church where they married in 1994.
“He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man,” the post read. “All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom.”
