Did Rihanna lie about why she cancelled on the Grammy Awards?

On Monday night, the singer pulled out of her performance at the last minute, despite turning up for rehearsals, and her reps put it down to bronchitis.

But new reports suggest the star lied about her illness after being disappointed with the way her rehearsal went for the glitzy event.

According to TMZ, sources present at the show heard her “screaming and hysterical” before pulling out.
They also claim to have heard her “expressing displeasure over her rehearsal”.

Following her bail out, the singer’s reps said she was advised to pull out by her doctors after struggling with bronchitis.

She was reportedly told that if she went ahead she could damage her vocal chords forever.
The 27-year-old was notably absent from the awards ceremony and sources close to her told TMZ she was too upset to stay and watch the show.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, RiRi took to Twitter, after it was revealed she would not be performing and wrote: “#NAVY so sorry I couldn’t be there ….. Thanks Grammys and CBS for your support tonight.”

Rihanna was due to perform Kiss Me Better at the ceremony.
The news didn’t go down to well with the singer’s fans who quickly took to Twitter to discuss her absence.

One social media user wrote: “Rihanna cancelled her performance cause she’s sick. I was actually looking forward to her.”

Another added: “Rihanna really ruined my mood.” While someone else pointed out: “Rihanna didn’t have bronchitis last night when she was at her clothing launch.”

The show was opened by Taylor Swift, who stunned in a sequin jumpsuit as she performed Out Of The Woods.

LL Cool J hosted this year’s ceremony while other presenters took to the podium, including Selena Gomez, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and James Corden, throughout the show.

Possibly the worst moment came when Adele’s long awaited return to the Grammys was spoiled by a sound issue , which resulted in her vocals sounding off.
Justin Bieber was also caught short with the sound – meaning his performance was also slightly blighted.

Rihanna wasn’t the only singer to pull out either – Lauren Hill was due to perform with The Weeknd but at the last minute wasn’t able to.

Her rep released a statement saying she was not given enough time to prepare and the Grammys announced her participation without her approval.
A number of fans were quick to brand the show a “flop” – with one Twitter user simply writing: “This years Grammys were a flop.”

Another added: “Rihanna cancelled her performance, Beyoncé didn’t show up and Ariana left 15 minutes into the show…..the Grammys are a flop this year.”
