Umar, who is also a student of the FUNTAJ School, said the project was targeted at eradicating the use of harmful kerosene lamp in Nigeria by providing safe and solar electricity for families.
He said that the project would provide free electricity and enable students in the rural areas to read at night and promote self-development.
“This project is aimed at providing 1,000 children in 14 rural schools and one Internally Displaced Persons camp with free, clean, safe, reliable, sustainable solar energy in their homes.”
He said that this would enable them to “continue to read, complete homework and generally improve in their education at night.
“ We intend to purchase the solar equipment, install them in the selected schools; train people on the principles of solar power.
“We want to promote safe electricity for students in the rural areas so that they can read at night and not add to the list of unemployed youths, thereby, reducing crime rate in the country,’’ he said.
