A private midwife at Awutu Breku in the Central region, Christiana Hammond is in the grips of the Police after she cut off the penis of a week old baby during circumcision.
The baby yet to be named died upon arrival at the hospital after bleeding profusely from the cut.
The distraught mother, Cynthia Nimoh in an interview with Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said, she is in shock because they did not expect such an experienced midwife to make such a ‘deadly mistake’.
“After the circumcision, I took my baby home and just when I’m about to change his diaper, he started crying uncontrollably and we realized that my baby was bleeding and I knew it was not normal.
“We took her back to the hospital and realized that the midwife did a very big mistake by cutting the penis of my baby” she said.
The teary woman said when her family confronted the midwife, she started apportioning unnecessary blames.
