Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has officially endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The governor made the declaration during a high-level caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress, putting an end to months of speculation over who would receive his backing.
Addressing party leaders and stakeholders, Abiodun stressed the importance of continuity and stability, noting that the choice of Adeola followed extensive consultations within the party’s leadership structure.

He said the decision was aimed at ensuring a smooth transition while sustaining the achievements of his administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda.
According to the governor, Adeola possesses the political experience, grassroots appeal, and national influence required to advance Ogun State’s development trajectory.
Senator Adeola, a seasoned legislator who previously represented Lagos West before returning to Ogun State politics, has remained a prominent figure within the APC.
