The Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Dr. Abisoye Fagade, has urged stakeholders to prioritize investments in Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry, describing it as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation.

Fagade, who recently assumed office following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made the call over the weekend at the KAP Film Village and Resort. He spoke during the burial reception of Mrs. Omoladun Afolayan, mother of renowned filmmaker and actor Kunle Afolayan.

“It is high time people invested more in tourism and hospitality. It is not just a money-spinner but also a tool for job creation, enhancing creativity, and boosting the economy,” Fagade said.

The NIHOTOUR DG praised Afolayan’s vision in establishing the KAP Film Village and Resort, describing it as a multi-billion-naira investment with the potential to transform Oyo State into a hub for tourism and filmmaking. “In a few years, Oyo State will be known for this remarkable film village and resort,” he added.

Kunle Afolayan, while introducing Fagade, expressed confidence in his leadership, noting that his tenure would bring meaningful development to NIHOTOUR and the sector at large.

The KAP Film Village and Resort combines art, nature, and Nollywood heritage, offering a range of activities, including set tours and horse riding.

The event attracted prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Alhaji Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Sunday Omobolanle (Papy Luwe), celebrated filmmaker Tunde Kelani of Mainframe Productions, Waka Queen Salawa Abeni, Saheed Balogun, Anta Laniyan, and Rasaq Olayiwola (Ojopagogo), among others.
