“The late Sultan Dasuki (93) was appointed the 18th Sultan of Sokoto in November 1988 after the death of Sultan Abubakar Saddique lll, but was deposed in 1996 and sent on exile. During his tenure as the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, he devoted his time, resources and up-lifted the Caliphate to an enviable position. He also modernised royalty, brought in elegance and equally promoted the Sokoto Caliphate’s revered status to the admiration of Nigerians and the international community.
“Late Sultan Dasuki during his travails in and out of exile maintained his peaceful posture and humility and had continued to offer good counseling on how to move Nigeria forward. He would therefore be remembered for his immense contribution to the Sokoto Caliphate, the North and Nigeria in all areas of development. His resourcefulness, wise counselling and love for peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion was unparalleled. The North and in deed Nigeria has lost a royal father and counsellor”.
ACF therefore commiserates with his immediate family, the Government and people of Sokoto State over the death of Sultan Dasuki, and prayed Allah (SWT) to grant him eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus, Amin.
