ADP Candidate, Bankole, Unfolds Agenda

The gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr Dimeji Bankole, on Friday, revealed a One-Point policy agenda for the people of the state if elected.

Bankole, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, said at a press conference in Abeokuta that mass employment would be the focal point of his administration.

Bankole, who commended the developmental efforts of past and present administrations in the state, observed that “there is still a lot to be done.”

The governorship candidate expressed concern over the high rate of unemployment in Ogun, saying the situation portends a great danger for the state if not urgently addressed.

“Unless urgent attention is taken to create sustainable employment, we are sitting on a keg of gun powder.

“This is therefore the reason that mass employment will be the focal point of my administration if elected.

‘We are convinced that it will address every economic and social sector, including the health, education, agriculture, manufacturing sports and youth development, processing and industry among others,” he said.

Bankole pledged to ensure free and regular flow of funds to the Local Government Areas to enhance development, particularly at the grassroots, in order to generate employment.

He explained that his administration, if elected, would transform the education sector in Ogun in order to make the youths employable and take advantage of the industries that would be attracted into the state.

The former Speaker who hails from the Ogun Central Senatorial District, dismissed allegations that he was only preparing grounds for the 2023 polls, since the incumbent governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is from the same district.

“Such erroneous impressions are from those who are unaware of the fact that the machinery for the actualisation of this project was put in motion five years ago.

” We have been quietly building our structure across the state, and based on the developments that I have facilitated into the state when I was the Speaker of the House of Representatives and our campaign strategy.

“I believe we have the required followers to vote us into power during the polls.

“Aside the followership, I am equipped with the needed experience and endearing track record which clearly puts me ahead and above other contenders in the race,” he said.
