African Travel Times Announces 2021 Awards Winners

Ahead of the 2021 edition of the African Travel Times Magazine Awards ceremony, the organiser  of the award presentation has announced the names of winners for the prestigious travel and tourism industry awards.

The Organiser and Publisher/Editor of the publication, Lucky Onoriode George revealed that this year’s award ceremony is taking the same pattern as the 2020 event because of the COVID-19 pandemic that has altered the way it organised the event in the past.

George noted that although there were limited activities since March 2020 because most countries were on lockdown, some organisations and individual winners have emerged from various industries including hospitality and airlines.

In the Hospitality Categories are: Best 3-Star Hotel (West Africa), Continent Hotel, Akure  Nigeria; while Best 4 Star Hotel is ICONIC (West Africa) Wheatbaker Hotel, Lagos; Best 4 Star Luxury Hotel (West Africa) Tang Palace, Accra, Ghana; Best Conference Hotel (West Africa) Eko Hotels & Suites and Best Indigenous Hotel Brand – West Africa Alisa Hotels, Accra, Ghana.

Winners in the individuals and organisations categories are Kifalu Masha, General Manager, Alisa Hotel, Accra – General Manager of the Year, Ghana; Dewald Kruger, General Manager, The Envoy Hotel, Abuja  – General Manager of the Year, Nigeria; Professor Wasiu Babalola Hospitality and Tourism Educator of the Year [West Africa]; Eko Hotel & Suites – Industry Most Supportive Institution [West Africa];  Hotel Presidential – Most Consistent Hotel [South-South – Nigeria] and Air Peace – Airline with most Connectivity [Nigeria].

Others are, Africa World Airline – Most Reliable Airline [West Africa]; Ibom Air – Most Reliable Airline [Nigeria]; Continent Hotels and Resorts – Most Exciting Hospitality Brand [Nigeria]; Uloma Udeh, General Manager, BON Elvis Hotel, Abuja – Female General Manager of the Year [Nigeria].

 Meanwhile, a VIRTUAL ceremony with winners and industry practitioners will be held on Thursday 9th of December 2021 at 2 pm Nigerian time.

According to George, the yearly award, which was initiated eight years ago, is to recognise excellence in the travel and the tourism sector in Nigeria, West Africa, and beyond.
