The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) will be hosting a two-day stakeholders’ forum to review its proposed Civil Aviation Regulations of 2019 on April 4 and 5, 2019, in Lagos.

The aim of the forum is to engage stakeholders on the proposed amendments to the Civil Aviation (Investigation of Air Accidents and Incidents) Regulations, 2016 and discuss the promotion of aviation safety.

This forum will attract stakeholders from different segments of the aviation sector to deliberate on the Bureau’s amended regulations, which will guide the agency in carrying out its statutory functions and activities.

Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of AIB, Akin Olateru, said the amendment was to meet global standards, and the stakeholders’ input would be of great importance.

The forum is to enable the Bureau review its legal backing as to its duties and processes. The two-day meeting will also feature a stakeholders’ conference where safety and other critical issues will be deliberated upon by the participants.

Among the dignitaries and speakers being expected are: Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Senator Bala Na’Allah, Director General, Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Babatunde Irukera, Managing Director, Aero Contractors, Capt. Ado Sanusi, and Group Managing Director NAHCO Aviance, Tokunbo Fagbemi, among others.
