Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the members of the House Representatives elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the state in the last general election have thrown their weights behind Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the candidate chosen by the leadership of the party for the position of speaker in the 9th Assembly.
Prince Akeem Adeyemi, one of the Reps-elect stated this in a statement issued on Monday on behalf of Oyo APC Reps Caucus said the governor had a meeting with Reps-elect on Sunday evening at his private residence in Oluyole Estate, Ibadan and they resolved to support Gbajabiamila for speakership position.

He stated that Governor Ajimobi specifically urged the lawmakers to support the aspiration of Gbajabiamila as the next Speaker of the House in the ninth assembly.
Adeyemi, who represents Oyo East/Oyo/West/Afijio/Atiba federal constituency and also the APC South-West Coordinator of Gbajabiamila Speakership Campaign Council thanked the governor for providing “a sound leadership and positive direction for the party.
The lawmaker said the Reps-elect promised the governor their full cooperation after each member had spoken in acceptance of the governor’s endorsement of the house leader.
“Consequently, APC members-elect from Oyo State pledged unflinching loyalty to the party and promised to abide by the party’s decision on the choice of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the 9th Assembly,” he added.
