Akintunde, ThisDay’s Judiciary Correspondent Dies In Fatal Crash

Akinwale Akintunde, a Judiciary correspondent with Thisday newspaper is dead.

Daily Independent gathered that the late Akintunde, was returning home after close of work on Tuesday evening when the motorcycle he boarded was hit by a truck.

According to an eyewitness account ” a truck hit the bike he was on. He was rushed to the hospital and placed on oxygen but they didn’t have his blood type. He had internal bleeding”.

The late Akintunde, a former Chairman of National Association of Judiciary Correspondent (NAJUC), Ikeja branch was survived by his wife and son.

In his tribute, Olawale Olaleye, Deputy Sunday Editor of Thisday newspaper wrote “For now, I want to dedicate my space to mourn a colleague and friend, Akinwale Akintunde, our correspondent on the Judiciary beat, who passed on yesterday, in an accident with a truck in Apapa, while heading home from work”.

“May his precious soul rest in peace”.

“Akinwale was a great guy, who paid dutiful attention to his job and understood his beat very well. He never grumbled over any assignment, no matter how short the notice was and would deliver to instructions”.

“He was my personal friend and respected friendship very much. He was a decent and peaceful young man”.

“May God forgive his sins and grant him a pleasant place in heaven. My heart goes out to his relatively young family”.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by his family.
