The late Akran ascended the throne of his forefathers on April 23, 1977, and reigned until his death in 2026, marking a remarkable 49-year reign, one of the longest by any traditional ruler in Lagos State.

Born in 1936, De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi was a former journalist before becoming king. His nearly five decades on the throne were marked by peace, unity and sustained community development across Badagry and its environs.

He was widely respected as a committed custodian of Ogu culture and tradition, and a passionate advocate for the welfare and progress of his people.

Until his passing, the monarch served as the Permanent Vice-Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, where his wisdom, counsel and leadership commanded great respect within traditional institutions across the state.

His demise marks the end of an era in Badagry, as tributes continue to pour in for a royal father whose reign left lasting footprints in history.
