The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, to appear at its headquarters in Abuja for questioning.
This trails her suspension from office by President Bola Tinubu over allegations related to the contentious payment of N585.189 million into a private account.

The President, in a statement issued on Monday, instructed the EFCC to promptly investigate the operations of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
While the EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined response to calls, reliable sources within the anti-graft agency informed LEADERSHIP that the invitation was extended to Edu less than half an hour after President Tinubu announced his immediate suspension from office.
