Traders in markets within Idemili-North local government area of Anambra State yesterday closed their shops to catch a glimpse of the immediate past governor of the state, and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi who stormed the markets to campaign for their votes in the coming February 16, presidential polls.

Mr Obi went to the markets to campaign without giving prior notice to the traders.

Some of the markets, the PDP vice presidential candidate visited included, the popular Building Material Market at Ogidi, New Tyre Market at Ogidi, Afor Igwe, Umudioka, Oye Olisa, Ogbunike, New Parts, Nkpor, among others.

At the markets, Obi who interacted with the traders urged them to vote for the PDP so as to rescue the country from imminent collapse.

He also assured them that with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the president of the country, the condition of traders would improve, especially with planned development of more Sea ports in the state. He also assured them that Atiku as a renowned wealth creator will replicate the same if voted into power.

On power infrastructure, which is a hindrance to the survival of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Obi assured the traders that Atiku’s economic blueprint contains steps to be taken for the revamping of the power sector in the country.

At the markets, the response by market leaders struck the same cord: that Obi being a fellow trader and having demonstrated superb leadership as the former governor should be massively voted for in order to ‘export’ his Anambra experience to the entire country.

Obi was accompanied on the campaign train by PDP chieftains, including former Aviation Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka, chairman of the PDP Capital Council in the state, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, Harry Oranezi, Alex Obiogbolu, among others.
