APC, Gov. Ganduje Planning To Disrupt Poll With Vote Buying And Thuggery – PDP

The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is planning to use vote buying, compromising security personnel and thugs to rig and disrupt the upcoming supplementary election in the state.

The party also alleged that the agents of the government have been deceiving unsuspecting and vulnerable women by taking advantage of their impoverishment by paying them N5,000 to surrender their PVC ahead of the supplementary election.

PDP in an open letter to President Mohammadu Buhari, yesterday, the party enjoined him to call on all political, religious, business and traditional leaders across the state to conscientise political actors to imbibe the tenets of peace and politics – without – bitterness and prevail on the atate Government to let peace reign.

In the letter signed by the State PDP Acting Chairman,Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, the party alleged that the plan of the state government is to take the PVC card to the government house and return it a day to the elections with a balance of another N5, 000 payment for the purpose of vote buying.

He further alleges that a good number of the perpetrators of these fraudulent acts who are government agents have been apprehended and handed over to the police.

According to him, while other culprits are undergoing investigation, especially those apprehended and handed over to the very proactive State Police Commissioner others have been released by some Divisional Police Officers.

His words :”Some of these compromised Police officers have outrightly refused to arrest the culprits even when complaints were lodge against them with credible evidence and proof. Some of these Divisional Police Officers who are falling below standards as far as upholding the law is concerned are those of Rano, Takai, Albasu, Sumaila amongst others.

“Evidently it is true that the Ganduje administration has deployed mind bugling public resources to influence voters and some unscrupulous security personnel, especially the army and the police.

“We also have it on good authority that the Ganduje led government has recruited thugs from neighboring states of Kaduna, Jigawa and Katsina to disguise as agents of other political parties on the election day.

“Their plan is to deny the real agents access to the polling units thereby creating chaos which will ultimately give them the leeway to rig and manipulate the election. We have no doubt that such scheming and machinations will only spell doom for our dear State, Allah Ya kiyaye.”

The party, however,  appealed to the Acting President  to ensure the neutrality of the security agencies including the Police, DSS, NSCDC and the Nigerian army as they have a duty to ensure that voters and their votes are protected from any form of harassment, intimidation and manipulations from any quarter.
