Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has described the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government as the most corrupt government since Nigeria gained independence in 1960.
Wike made the allegation yesterday when the board and management of Independent Newspapers Limited, visited him at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
He said that the APC-led administration lacked integrity and cared less about the well-being of Nigerians.
The governor restated that the present federal government is the worst administration in the history of the country.
According to him, “there is no integrity anywhere in the administration. They sold all our valued assets and used the funds to sponsor the APC presidential campaign, yet they claim that they have integrity”.

Wike commended the media for rising in defence of the country and the judiciary after the federal government moved to muzzle the judiciary.
He said that the media has a key role to play in checking the excesses of the incumbent administration.
Wike said: “The press has a great role to play in the survival of the nation’s democracy. They are struggling to tarnish the image of the judiciary, and this must be resisted.”
The governor said that with the sustained evil machinations of the government, Nigerians should expect the worst, stressing that that the actions of the government were aimed at destabilising the polity.
Earlier, the managing director of Independent Newspapers Limited, Mr. Ade Ogidan, announced the nomination of Wike as the Newspaper’s Political Icon of the Year 2018.
Ogidan said the newspaper arrived at the decision because of the governor’s roles in stabilising the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge as a strong opposition party.
