ARBICO Plc, which sponsored the Low Cup at the just concluded 2017 NPA International Polo Tournament, has promised to create closer relationship with current winners, Kano AGAD and possibly sponsor a pony to be trained for the 2018 championship.

Kano AGAD defeated Lagos Balmoral International by 61/2 to 4 goals at a tense final game played at the Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi, Lagos. The victory also saw the winners emerge as Governor’s Cup winner.

The team captain, Dantata, who linked the victory to hard work, dedication and determination, said the road to the final was a very rough journey, but because of the willpower to clinch the trophy, several miles from home, kept them going.

While noting that his team would intensify their games to ensure they maintained their winning streak and also achieve higher feats, he enjoined government at all levels to encourage the game of polo.

The Business Development and Marketing Manager of the company, Lucien Kancel, told The Guardian that ARBICO and Polo as a sport share common values such as commitment, integrity and teamwork. He noted that as its mission is to deliver the highest quality in construction services to its clients, the choice of sponsoring Polo also known as the sport of Kings, came as a natural choice.

“ARBICO Plc and Lagos Polo club just embarked on a long lasting relationship. Polo sport, likewise ARBICO Plc is a brand rich in values and traditions. This association really matters a lot to us. We are repositioning the brand as noble and sophisticated. We want to demonstrate that a Nigerian owned Construction Company could be so.

“We may possibly create a closer relationship with the winning team and maybe sponsor a Polo pony to be trained for next year tournament.
Our development and communication strategy have to align with any sponsorship we commit to. If our values and history matches with this event, the possibility of such association will be discussed,” he said.
