11 Arrested As Suspected Cultists Raid Rivers Market, Rob Traders, Customers

No fewer than 11 suspected cult members who invaded the Mile 3 Market in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and allegedly robbed traders and customers have been arrested by the police.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the hoodlums allegedly broke into shops in the Bayelsa line axis and carted away money and goods.

The hoodlums reportedly stormed the section of the market around 3pm.

Godstime Ihunwo, the chief security officer of Nkpolu Oroworukwo community, where the market is located, said the combined efforts of youths, the Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3, led to the arrest of 11 of the invaders.

“I can confirm the invasion of the Bayelsa line in Mile 3, where hoodlums suspected to be cultists broke shops and carted away property.

“But with the combined efforts of other security agencies, such as the Octopus Taskforce and Nkpolu Police Division, we were able to arrest over eight of them,” Ihunwo added.
The acting state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Iroko, said she was aware of the situation.
We are going to release an official statement on it,” she added.
