Arsenal sponsor SportPesa trolled January signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the 3-0 defeat by Manchester City on Thursday night.

As if losing by the same scoreline to Pep Guardiola’s side in the space of four days wasn’t difficult enough, the club’s own sponsor mocked Arsene Wenger’s side.

The Africa-based bookmakers tweeted several times during the match and targeted Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan.

The company, whose partnership with Arsenal involves training camps in Africa, posted on the social media platform: ‘There’s still an hour left of this. #ARSMCI’.

City were 3-0 up by the 33rd minute, courtesy of goals from Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Leroy Sane.

SportPesa then tweeted a picture of Aubameyang with his head in his hands next to Mkhitaryan with the caption: ‘“#YoPierre… we’ve made a massive mistake here pal.” #ARSMCI’

Arsenal completed the the club-record £56million signing of the striker from Borussia Dortmund on deadline day, while Mkhitaryan joined from Manchester United a few days before in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.

In February Arsenal earned just two wins against Everton and Ostersunds.

Aubameyang scored on his Gunners debut in their 5-1 win over the Toffees but has not added to that goal since and missed a penalty early in the second half against City.
