Encomiums have poured down in torrents on next generation network, Globacom from residents of Ayingba in Kogi State, for bringing the wave-making comedy show, Glo Laffta Fest to the town.
The comedy show which is currently touring major cities in Nigeria stormed the University town from Egbeda in Lagos, painting it green and pulling an unprecedented crowd.
Excitement was rife in the town as time drew near for the commencement of the show. The stadium on the campus of the Kogi State University, venue of the comedy show was filled by students and staff of the school as well as residents of Ayingba, who had positioned themselves in vantage positions to have a clear view of the premium acts billed to perform.
Basket mouth who anchored the show emerged on stage at 5:15pm to a deafening cheer from the audience. In his characteristic manner, he unleashed rib-cracking jokes and recounted his days in university.
He called up on stage, students aspiring to become music stars to showcase their skills. OC Green, Jeezzy and Mareez wowed the audience with scintillating performances and got gift items from Globacom.
Osama set the ball rolling for the comedy show. The bearded Jos-born comedian was so humorous that the audience laughed throughout his time on stage. The duo of Still Ringing sustained the tempo after Osama exited.

I go Dye, Acapella and Klint D Drunk took the show a notch higher with sublime performances. I Go Dye in one of his jokes, admonished students to eschew cultism and violence as it will only lead to destruction. He joked about so called cultists who claim to be brave but scamper to safety when crises arise because they don’t wish to lose their lives.
Then came the musicians. Reekado Banks and Burna Boy got a resounding applause and cheer as they mounted the stage to perform. It was not surprising when the audience clamored for more from the artistes.
Some of the guests who were at the show praised Globacom for deeming it fit to stage such a classy show in their school in spite of its distant location. A 300 level student of Banking and Finance, Faith Egbunu, couldn’t hide her joy and pleasure. She expressed gratitude to Globacom in an emotion laden voice.
“I can’t believe this is real. We’ve never had such a show in this school since I got admission and seeing these stars in Ayingba is like a dream to me. Kudos to Globacom”, she said.
A non-academic staff of Kogi State University, Jane Adikpa, said “when we heard that the show would be held in this school, we initially thought it was a big joke because such things never happen here. Globacom is the first to organize a show here”.
The Glo Laffta Fest train will move to Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Subscribers who wish to attend have been encouraged by Globacom to use up to N3,000 airtime before the show and send LOL IJEBU-ODE to 33001.
