Babes Wodumo’s parents, Thokozile and Welcome Simelane have addressed the public after their daughter and popular musician, Babes Wodumo (real name Bongekile Simelane) assault was watched by thousands on IG Live.

In a media briefing, they noted that Babes is receiving treatment at the hospital. Her mother also noted that she cannot speak on the incident because “the matter is with the police” however, they have opened a case at Westville police station.

Meanwhile, her lover and musician Mampintsha (real name Mandla Maphumulo) is yet to turn himself to the police, police spokesperson Brig Vishnu Naidoo has said.

They, however, refused to respond to any questions after their statement.

Her assault has since sparked conversations on the rising abusive relationships.
