Preparations are in top gear for the Second Annual Trans-Border International Trade Discourse (TBTD) slated to hold in Badagry, Lagos, from December 12 to 13, 2025.

The high-level trade dialogue is jointly organised by the Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) and Portbizness News and is designed to promote deeper business connectivity and collaboration across borders.

In a statement signed by the Project Director, James Shodiya, and endorsed by BACCIMA President, Alhaji Yahaya Oladiran Idris, the organisers said the discourse aligns with global and regional efforts to strengthen trade integration, economic cooperation and sustainable development.

They noted that Nigeria continues to face barriers in cross-border trade, including tariff restrictions, poor infrastructure, policy inconsistencies and limited access to trade financing. The 2025 edition of the discourse, they said, will explore practical ways to address these challenges through shared knowledge and expert interventions.

The programme is also expected to contribute to ongoing policy conversations around the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

According to the schedule, the two-day event will open on December 12 with lectures, panel discussions and a gala evening at Sycomore Hotel & Suites, Ajara-Badagry, beginning at 2 p.m.

Day Two will feature a tourism excursion, during which delegates will tour key heritage sites in the historic town of Badagry.

The organisers have announced Hon. (Dr.) Segun Musa as Chairman of the Occasion, while keynote presentations will be delivered by Dr. Azeez A. Mustapha and Mr. Kola Awe, Chairman of the NACCIMA Export Group.

Other confirmed dignitaries include the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, as Special Guest of Honour; Alhaji Olanrewaju Akeem of Taloid Group as Father of the Day; and Comrade Onome Monije, PRO of ANLCA Tin-Can Chapter, as Mother of the Day.

Shodiya expressed confidence that the second edition of the discourse would deliver deeper engagement and wider stakeholder participation, adding that BACCIMA’s involvement would further enhance knowledge exchange and business collaboration.

He said expectations remain high among stakeholders seeking improved cross-border trade processes and better regional economic integration.
