Bandits Kill Eighteen People, Raze Houses In Plateau Community

fewer than 18 persons were killed and several houses razed after bandits attacked the Ancha community in the Miango chiefdom of Bassa local government area.

The attack occurred in the late hours of Tuesday, with many people wounded.

Itshaku Takwa, the media officer of the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in Plateau confirmed the attack on the community.

“In the late hours of Tuesday, January 11, troops of OPSH received a distress call of an attack on Ancha community in Bassa local government area,” disclosed Mr Takwa. “The troops responded swiftly and mobilised to the village, but on reaching the community, the attackers had fled the village.”

He added that “houses were destroyed and some villagers lost their lives during the attack.”

Although Mr Takwa did not disclose the casualty figure, Danjuma Auta, the National Secretary of, Iregwe Development Association, told journalists that no fewer than 18 people lost their lives in the attack.

The attack comes weeks after bandits killed nine persons and injured four others in an attack on Pinau community in Wase Local Government Area of the state.
