First published in reaction to the rash unwholesome acts issuing from Churches and ‘men of God’ and the accompanying discomfiture of mainly religious people.
Jesus lambasts erring Angels,” screamed the banner headline of the Celestial Watch, the oldest newspaper in the third Heaven. Angel Vendors screamed it about the nooks and crannies of the celestial realm.
Yet, another celestial paper carried it differently with an explanatory additive: Jesus Lambasts Erring Angel Administrators. The explanatory additive is the word “Administrators.” These are angels engaged in administrative works on earth.
Yet, about 2,000 years later, few persons are aware of this event even after reading their Bibles from “pole to pole”. But the event is right there in the Bible. Jesus really gave it to those angels. He even threatened some of them with outright dismissal.
Pity. Time up. Here’s the answer. The Revelation to John 1:20. There Jesus was speaking to John: “As for the mystery of the seven stars which you [John] saw in my right hand and the seven golden lamp stands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven lamp stands are the seven churches.
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus, write….” And so Jesus went on to take the angels one by one , praising them where they did well and lambasting them where they erred.
For instance, Jesus told the angel administrator of the Church of Thyatira [Rev.2:19] “I know your works , your love and faith and service and patience, endurance, and that your later work exceed the first. But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman, Jezebel who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and beguiling my servants to practice immortality and to eat food sacrificed to idols…..”
But the angel administrator of the church in Laodicea got perhaps the worst dressing down, topped with the threat of dismissal [Rev.2:15]. “ I know your works: You are neither cold nor hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth…..”. The angel concerned must have quailed involuntarily on hearing this. But Jesus was not through with the poor angel guy, “You say I am rich , I have prospered , and I need nothing , not knowing that you are wretched ,pitiable, poor, blind and naked…..”.
The foregoing provide excellent glimpses into the way to see churches and other religious institutions in our midst today. First, it should be noted that despite their catalogue of atrocities, Jesus never denied the churches nor their angel administrators. Rather, he tried to correct them-sternly.
This also shows that the angel of a church is not necessarily a perfect being.
He[she?] is subject to grave errors, which attract strong rebuke from his spiritual superiors.
But, then, you might wonder why blame angels for the errors of members of the church? Simple. The human head of every church is actually under the inspiration of the guiding angel of that church. The wishes and dictates of the angel as regards the mode of conducting the church’s affairs are spoken through the human leader.
Also, when men claim sincerely that, “My God told me to start a church called…..’’ it is actually the guardian angel of the speaker who is directing him to take action or an angel who is closely interested in the man.
One great “fact of life” is that most beings in the spirit world can carry out their wishes in the physical world only by inspiring physical human beings to carry out such wishes or, atimes by possessing them. However , the ordinary man on the street simply assumes it is a “God” speaking through the man. In a way, this is an error.
The morality and temperament of the church so establish are naturally colored by the moral attitude and temperament of the angel administrator of the church or founder. This is true of all organizations in the world-spiritual or otherwise.
However, though we have been using the word “angels”, they are actually spirit beings. There are various spirit beings as there are various shades of men. And all these spirit being can inspire men or possess them.
Those of these spirit being called angels are those who have pledged to work on the side of the law of light. So angels are somehow like government workers or civil servants. But like human civil servants ,angels are of different shades of moral rectitude.

Though, generally speaking, there is a clear distinction between angels and demons, there are beings who are in between: neither angels nor demons. And atimes, like it happens among men, some angels are rather of questionable character.
All these shades of beings inspire human beings variously in various undertakings. Some of them take interest in scientists, scientific activities and institutions, some in religious activities and institutions.
As the Revelation account shows, these angels does not always agreed on principles. There are things which the angel of the church of Sardis condoned and even endorsed which the angel in Laodicea probably detested.
However, in human religious language every disembodied voice is often taken as being from “God”. Ordinarily, each human being gravitates to the church whose angel’s ideas agree with his or her expectations.
The idea of lightning candles and burning incense is unattractive to some persons and so they shun some churches [and their angel] and join the Baptist Church and thus come under the administration and inspiration of the Baptist angels.
Note too, that speaking in “tongues” does not necessarily indicate a good angel or a good church just like speaking Queen’s English does not make any man a saint. In fact, just as an impeccable Queen’s English can be a veritable tool of 419ism, so can impressive strange tongues. Nevertheless, tongues can be genuine tools of divine messages.
It is we who often get confused by names and titles: seeing visions or making great predictions does not really mean is of high grade. There are natural laws that determine psychic gifts. For instance , any person strongly influenced by the sign of Pisces is almost always considerably psychic.
Whether he’s Hitler, Reverend Desmond Tutu or Babangida does not change the natural laws. It is like any natural gift [often developed by further training ] like throwing javelin or long distance running . A good sprinter may be evil person. See?
By their fruits, you must judge them. However, there are many aspiring souls who though not very high, are constantly striving to better themselves. It is sad though that many of these “God –shouters” content themselves with merely identifying with religious heroes and neglect to improve in character. All in the belief that a mere confession of names guarantees them special passports to heaven.
Watch over your souls. Watch over your thoughts. Avoid negative passions so that low spirits may run away from you. Nigeria today teems with men, big men with low dark passions and so our nation is “flooded” with low spirit beings that urge [inspire] men and women into dark and darker exploits.
However, in spite of these ideological differences among angels, there are basic universal principles which all true angels hold in common. One such is “goodness”- all that promote life and peace.
However, some churches are decidedly evil; negative ,usually the human founder or leader of such church [or any other religious body] has signed a pact with spirit beings of the underworld,who, as pointed out are decidedly dedicated to evil. Occultists call these spirit beings angels of the inverse Sephiroth. Most leaders of such churches however hide under outward trappings of agents of light.
But as Jesus said, “By their fruits you shall know them.” A fool –proof indicator of the nature of any guardian angel of any institution is the measure of his[her]humanity, humane-ness-or soul wisdom. How much value does it place on the welfare of human persons?
The level of development of a man determines the grade, high or low , of angels that will be attracted to him to inspire him. Persons who give themselves to lower passions attract to themselves very low angels or spirit beings,even demons who see them as tools and “inspire”them in their low ways.
However ,men who aspire for spiritual growth and sincerely apply their minds to higher things attract to themselves higher angels. The secret of this attraction lies in the human aura-the electromagnetic light that emanates from and surrounds every human being. The aura of a man reveals his grade or levels of development to spirit beings.
The names or titles of a church or leader do not really matter. What matter most is their grade and thus the grade of angels that work with them. There are low –grade world evangelists,don,t mind how flashy they look. They are high –grade traditionalists; don’t mind how “unsophisticated “they look. There are high-grade Muslims and low grade cardinals.
