Blue House was the toast of spectators and parents during the first inter-house sports competition of Anchor Springfield School, Lafenwa, Ota, Ogun State, where it beat Yellow, Green and Pink to second, third and fourth positions respectively.

The event was a pure display of talents, as the pupils, from the march past to the sprint and field events showcased their talents.

In his address, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the school, Mr. Samson Adamolekun said the influence of sports on human life couldn’t be overestimated, adding that it builds up the body and enhances good health on one hand, and as a competition, it helps to initiate new relationship, while strengthening an existing bond.

He noted that sporting activities involved positive strife, whether for exercise or entertainment or for a prize. “In all cases, sports are profitable endeavours, not only for the participants and the organisers, but also for spectators.

The joy of winning is an unquantifiable experience for the participants. The agony of defeat is a lesson for the group to prepare better next time.

“Sports as an exercise is greatly cherished by children. After food and sleep the next most important activity to a child is to play. Preventing a child from playing may destroy him emotionally, socially and physically.

Sporting activities in the school are veritable avenue to holistic education…”
