Bonifence elected as the fifth President of Uganda Tourism Association

Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) Uganda’s apex body for tourism recently unanimously elected Bonifence Byamukama its fifth President at an assembly of the trade associations held at the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities headquarters in Kampala.

Bonifence who is immediate past Chairman of Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) as well as Vice Chaieman of East Africa Tourism Platform brings a wealth of over twenty years in the tourism fold.

He also owns Lake Kitandara Tours and Travel and several lodges under the Adventure Camps brand within the national parks including Kitandara Camp ,Bwindi Impenetrable Forest ,Kibale Safari Lodge in Kibale Forest , Hippo Hill in Queen Elizabeth National park and Lake Victoria View Lodge on the shores of lake Victoria in Kampala When asked on what he intends to achieve for the sector, Bonifence said that he intends to focus on issues affecting the industry including capacity building, infrastructure and access to new markets.

UTA brings together trade associations representing the tourism sector under one umbrella including t Association of Uganda Tour Operators Association (AUTO), Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA), Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA), the Uganda Travel Agents Association (TUGATA) and Uganda Community Tourism Association (UCOTA).

Previous UTA Presidents have been Frank Silver Karake, Dr. Thome Wolfgang, Amos Wekesa and Herbert Byaruhanga.

Bonifence has also previously been a Director with Uganda Wildlife Authority and Past President of Rotary Club of Luzira in Kampala.
