A Kasawan Nama Upper Area Court 3 in Jos on Tuesday sentenced a 35-year-old businessman, Tunde Akande, to two years and six months imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm.
The Judge, Yahaya Mohammed, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine for two years jail term for unlawful possession.
Muhammed said the six months imprisonment for having the locally-made pistol without licence was without any option of fine.
The accused had pleaded guilty to the offence.
