CAF Awards: Osimhen, Chukuweze, Oshoala Make Final Three-Man Shortlist

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the final three contenders for the 2019 Awards.

Three Nigerian players made the cut in their respective categories.

Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze and Lille’s Victor Osimhen will battle for the African Youth Player of the Year, along with Borussia Dortmund’s Achraf Hakimi.

Barcelona forward, Asisat Oshola, is in contention for the Women’s Player of the Year, with Ajara Nchout (Cameroon & Valerenga) and Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa & Beijing Phoenix FC).

Riyad Mahrez (Algeria and Manchester City), Sadio Mane (Senegal and Liverpool) and Mohammed Salah (Egypt and Liverpool) are up for the main prize.

The nominees were pruned to three by a CAF Technical & Development Committee, panel of media experts and a select panel of CAF Legends, made up of former winners of the prestigious African Player of the Year award.

The winners of the awards will be revealed during the CAF Awards ceremony on January 7, 2020.
