‘CCC Lagos West Central festival is for unity, talent hunt’

No fewer than 320 youths from across the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Lagos West Central Province J participated in its yearly youth sports festival held at the weekend.

The sports competition, with the theme: ‘Togetherness in Love,’ had youths from the different parishes under the Province J vying for honours in tennis, ludo, snooker, scrabble, chess, ayoo and draught.

The elated youths, comprising both female and male from their various parishes, won various gifts and cash prices for their efforts.

Speaking on the competition, the Head of Province J, Evang. Nathan-Bayo Olojede said the event was to engage the youths, create unity among them and empower them in different levels of sports.

He said the youths were the future of the nation and should be encouraged, adding that was why Province allowed the youth organisation to organise the sports competition and gave them the financial backing they required to promote sports among themselves.

Speaking on the theme of the competition, the Head, Christ International Parish, Prophet Yemi Ewenuga said the aim of the event was to also promote love among the youths, adding, “ love brings progress and happiness and in unity we will achieve progress.

“This is a good foundation to keep youths away from engaging in social vices. Sport is an effective tool in bring youths together in love, as well as curbing crime, as most of the youths in the country are involved in criminal activities,” he said.

On his part, Sport Committee Director, Segun Adetuwo explained that the the sports festival was organised to create a learning platform within the province, where the youths could come together, interact, engage one another, share each other’s dreams, discuss generally and find ways of bonding to galvanize them into positive doings.
