I felicitate with a philanthropist and a political leader cum brother, Alhaji Mutiu Are on this joyous occasion of his 65th birthday today.
I joined the family members, well-wishers, Lagos Island constituents and the entire people of Lagos state in rejoicing with the Secretary, Governor’s Advisory Council for marking this day in good health.
Alhaji Are is a grassroot politician, philanthropist and a humanitarian leader. Just like his mentor, President Bola Tinubu, he is always committed to promotion of the welfare of people which can be attested to by a lot of people.

Let me also borrow the words of a great American philosopher, “If you have knowledge, let others light in it”, that fitted the description of his personality. So with his polical and social brethren who are all my senior brothers like Alhaji Akeem Apatira, Uncle Fuad Oki, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Hon Rasheed Giwa, Late Toyin Hamzat (Rip) and others, they are all altruistic in nature. Though the later was not an Islander but we used to be together whenever he visited Canada then.
Back to my milestone big brother, It is crystal clear that Alhaji Are is always willing and eager to impact positively on people’s lives. He is an embodiment of integrity, emphaty, compassion and generousity. He is at his best when we talk of transformational and participative leadership.
Alhaji Are is a political leader with a ‘statemanship’ status as opposed to just being an ordinary ‘politician’ – this means having the integrity and willingness to stand up for what is right.
I wish him many more years of good health, service to humanity and may Almighty God continue to bless and guide him.
